The domestication of the horse was one of the most consequential events in military history, and the Bronze Age stable translated that fact into battlefield power. From the Pontic steppe where horse domestication first took hold to the chariot parks of Egyptian pharaohs and Hittite great kings, dedicated facilities for breeding, training, and equipping horses were the foundation of any mounted force. A horse requires ten times the feed of a human soldier and years of conditioning before it tolerates battle — without a stable managing that process, mounted warfare does not happen.
