Two-Handed Swordsman
DE Zweihandschwertkämpfer
The two-handed sword fighter of the Early Middle Ages is a warrior built around a single, devastating concept: overwhelming force delivered through the longest iron blade a man can wield. The great sword — sometimes called a Zweihänder in later German tradition — required both hands to swing but rewarded that commitment with blows that could shatter spear shafts, break shield rims, and drive through the riveted rings of heavy chainmail. In early medieval Europe, such fighters served as shock troops tasked with opening gaps in enemy lines: their sweeping attacks kept entire battle lines at arm's length and disrupted formation cohesion before the rest of the army pressed in. Deeply exposed while swinging, they depended on companions to guard their flanks. In the game they deal area-effect damage that punishes tightly packed infantry formations, but their slow attack speed makes them vulnerable to mobile or ranged opponents.
