Stuka I

The Ju 87, first tested in the Spanish Civil War from 1937, was the archetypal dive bomber: it fell almost vertically onto its target, achieving an accuracy horizontal bombers could not match. A siren mounted on its landing-gear fairings, the infamous 'Jericho Trumpets', produced a nerve-shredding wail during the dive that was deliberately used as psychological warfare. Against undefended targets and without enemy air superiority it was devastatingly effective, but its low speed made it quickly obsolete against modern fighters. In the game the Stuka delivers a single, extremely precise bomb strike with high damage against ground targets and buildings, but is vulnerable to anti-air fire and fighters.
