Modern Fortress

A massive concrete colossus in the tradition of the Verdun forts and twentieth-century coastal batteries: casemated lower works, corner machine-gun posts and a heavy gun turret on the central block. Three heavy machine guns mow down charging infantry while the turret gun engages vehicles and ships at long range. In game the modern fortress is the final link of the fortress line — nearly uncrackable without artillery or air support.
