Roman Legionary III

Römischer Legionär III

Early Medieval Heavy InfantrySpecialHero capable

The Veteran Roman Legionary is the pinnacle of the Roman special unit line — a battlefield-hardened soldier equipped to the absolute maximum standard Rome could field. His armor, weapons, and kit represent the optimized final form of centuries of iterative refinement in Roman military engineering. The defining tactical capability at this tier is the testudo: a formation in which legionaries interlock overlapping shields above and to the sides of the formation, creating a mobile shell that can approach fortified walls through arrow storms and boiling oil. Against siege objectives the testudo-capable Legionary III is without peer in his era. In open battle he is simply the most durable, most damaging, and most tactically sophisticated infantry unit the Roman line produces — expensive to field but worth every resource invested when used correctly.
