Hospital
When the Benedictine Rule commanded monks to care for the sick as if caring for Christ himself, it created the first systematic nursing network in Western history. Monasteries established infirmaries, the Knights Hospitaller built hospitals along pilgrim routes to Jerusalem, and the great Hotel-Dieu of Paris served thousands annually. Medieval hospitals were not cure facilities — medicine was still mostly prayer and herbs — but they offered shelter, warmth, and organized care that dramatically improved survival of the wounded. The Hospital unlocks the Medic unit, increases the regeneration rate of damaged troops in your territory, and provides a small happiness bonus to your population. It is the backbone of any sustained military campaign: armies that can heal between engagements sustain offensive pressure far longer than those that must rebuild from scratch after every costly battle.
